FUNAAB VC Charges Freshers To Be More Focussed!!

    The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole has charged newly admitted studentsof the University to be well focused, in order to come out in flying colours, at the end of their academic sojourn in the University.
   Professor Oyewole gave the charge on Wednesday, in his Welcome Address at the OrientationProgramme for fresh students, held at the Julius Okojie Lecture Theater 3.
    Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Toyin Arowolo, the Vice-Chancellor stated that it was imperative for the new intakes to be well focused because there are many things that could jeopardize the chances of completing their programmes and graduating with good grades.
    He, therefore, admonished them to prepare for real hard work in order to meet the expectation of both the University and their parents.
    Professor Oyewole pointed out that the essence of the orientation programme is to “welcome you (freshers) as new members of FUNAAB’s family, integrate you into the system and enlighten you on the extant rules and regulations governing your stay inthis citadel of learning”.
     Addressing the students on the importance of University Education to Self and Community Development, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Toyin Arowolo said that FUNAAB “awards degree to deserving students, who have been adjudged okay on the template of learning and character”.
      According to him, “No matter how intelligent you are, if you do not possess good character, you will not be found worthy. You must have strong and enviable character and sound mind. If you do not have that now, please start building it up”.
     He further informed the students that “the point of a University education is not academics alone. It is about the future of your whole personality”.
     Also speaking, the Registrar, Mr. Mathew Ayoola (JP) charged the students to be good ambassadors of the University.
     Besides, Mr. Ayoola enjoined them to strictly obey the rules and regulations of the University, after which he gave the students a brief history of the University.
     Speaking on Library Services, the Acting University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam,who was represented by Principal Librarian {Readers’ Service Librarian (RSL)}, Mr. Oyinlola Amusa said it is a must for the students to utilize the Library in order to excel.
    She stated that it was expedient for them to register with the Library, among other procedures, in order to enjoy the facilities there in.
     In his brief remarks, the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Olufemi Onifade urged the studentsto see him as a father, who they can easily approach for solution to their challenges on campus.
