A faculty  member of the Pan African University, Prof. Pat Utomi, said in Lagos that Nigeria would never experience industrial rebirth and increased manufacturing activities if the values and culture of its citizens did not change.

Utomi made the statement at a lecture to mark the golden jubilee anniversary of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. The lecture was entitled; Nigeria and the Manufacturing Enterprise.

He said that economic growth of Nigeria was premised on the transformation of its education sector. The lecturer said that Nigeria's industrial growth had been bedevilled by the destruction of its civil service, collapse of industrial culture and the systemic entrenchment of corruption.

Utomi said the collapse of industrial policies, due to their poor formulation and implementation and the error of indigenisation of the management teams of enterprises also caused Nigeria's low manufacturing outputs.

He said that Nigeria needed to grow its human capital in line with the nation's industrial and manufacturing needs, saying that job creation should be at the heart of such desires.
