In this holy month of Ramadan, I solidarize with my Muslim brothers and sisters and urge that as we fast together we should all pray for peace, stability and rapid socio-economic development in the nation. Be assured that this administration will continue to do all within its powers to give every Nigerian a true sense of belonging. Ramadan Mubarak.

Some ask why we are building new universities. The reason being that when I consider what we spend on subsidizing fuel (about a trillion Naira annually) my heart bleeds and I would rather spend that money subsidizing education because while petrol is burnt up in a car's engine and is gone, your mind never burns up the education it receives. As a leader, I would rather teach Nigerians how to fish (education) rather than only give my people fish (fuel).

On my update yesterday regarding my promise to build new universities (some are already being built as we speak), many commented that they prefer jobs. However, as government focuses on infrastructure and improves access to education and credit, which is what we are doing, youths will be empowered to create jobs for themselves rather than simply look for jobs. Skills not paper qualifications are the essence of education. I am beginning with the end in mind by investing in education.

As we mark ten years of GSM mobile services this week, it is heartening that Nigeria has grown from less than a million lines to over 90 million lines with 70% of Nigerians having access to phones. It cost 150,000 Naira to get connected before 2011. Today it takes 100 Naira. This result came about from the liberalization of the communication sector which is what this administration plans to replicate in the power sector with the Roadmap to Power Sector Reforms.

The world is going through changes and these changes are no respecters of national boundaries. The human race needs to work together and come up with solutions that evolve a more equitable world order. In this global village, the conversation should now be how do we collectively bring about a better world. As some nations go through turmoil, our responsibility as nations and citizens is to help each other in our time of need.

I read your comments last year about your desire for an alternative to road transport and I made a commitment to revive Nigeria's rail infrastructure. Now that Mass Transit Train services have kicked off in five of the six Geo-Political zones, I want your feedback so we can continue to make better decisions. Have you travelled on these trains? Please tell me about your experiences.

I heard your cries about the artificial scarcity of kerosene and because I promised myself to give priority to the needs of the common man, this administration took the unique decision to begin direct sales of kerosene to the end user thereby cutting out the bottlenecks that caused your discomforts. From reports in the news, the scarcity is now a thing of the past. However, I want to know if this innovation has eased your burdens on this issue. Please let me know of your experiences.

I promised women a 35% slot in my cabinet and I fulfilled that vow because it is my desire to ensure a level playing field in Nigeria by heading an administration where ethnicity, gender and religion do not hinder qualified persons from fulfilling their potentials. It is also the reason I ordered the admission of women into the Nigerian Defence Academy-a first in Nigeria. Women should brace up to be all they want to be in life as this administration will be an enabler of your progress.

I said on this page that your lives have value to me which is why this administration diligently implemented a safety revolution in the Aviation sector. Since I commissioned the Total Radar Coverage of Nigeria Project on October 18, 2010, I received reports that aviation safety has greatly improved and there have been no plane crashes. But I need your feedback to ensure the sector continues to improve. Have you traveled by air lately? Have you noticed improvements in the aviation sector.

Last month, I reported to you that inflation had dropped to 10.2% and many expressed a desire to have it further reduced. I heard you and we went to work and today our Consumer Price Index records that inflation in Nigeria has dropped to 9.4% which is the lowest rate recorded in over three years as verified by sundry independent local and international agencies. Please be assured that I read your comments here and take them into effect in decisions this administration makes.

I am a firm believer of the doctrine of Separation of Powers since nations rise and fall in accordance to how they relate to the rule of law. I have sworn an oath to defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I refuse to be pressured to do things that will be against our constitution. Our nation is going through tough times but because Nigerians are tougher, these tough times will not last. There is nothing that constitutionalism and dialogue cannot resolve.

Following the floods of last year, this administration in fulfillment of my statement that your lives have value in my eyes, developed and launched the NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X Satellites. These satellites were designed and built by Nigerian Engineers/Scientist in conjunction with British Scientist and will help, expand Internet Bandwidth, monitor the weather and provide early warning to prevent natural disasters like floods, crop monitoring and urban planning.

On Friday, I was in Oyo state to perform an on the spot assessment of the floods that ravaged the area and listen to the victims and the State Govt. I directed NEMA to remain in the state and assist with relief efforts. An Inter-Ministerial Committee has been set up to work with the State Govt to come up with a frame work for deploying technology and infrastructure to prevent future reoccurrence for immediate implementation by the FG. Again I commiserate with the victims.

To underscore the importance I place on New Media, I have appointed Mr. Bemigho Reno Omokri, as my Special Assistant on New Media. I believe that New Media is an important tool for bringing all sides together rather than choosing sides and is an effective means of receiving real time feedback from the public.
