Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has declared that only God will determine his fate in the 2027 general elections, stressing that leadership is not in the hands of man.
The governor made the statement during the inauguration of the Shura Council, an advisory body, at the Kano State Government House.
Speaking through his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Yusuf recalled how many political observers wrote him off in the 2023 elections, yet divine providence saw him emerge as governor.

“I faced the most difficult challenges of my life after the 2023 elections. But through those challenges and tears, I remain committed to the service of Kano. I am still here because of God, not because of any individual,” he said.
The governor emphasised that leadership is a divine mandate, declaring: “God installs and removes leaders as He wishes.”
Yusuf noted that his trials had strengthened his resolve to deliver on projects that benefit the people rather than pursuing personal political gains.
He also raised concerns about the challenges facing young people in the state, particularly drug abuse, thuggery and other vices, which he warned were threatening their future.
As part of his administration’s response, the governor announced the creation of a new reformatory institution for women, aimed at rehabilitating victims of drug abuse and other social challenges.
He further appealed to religious leaders to use their platforms and influence to support the government’s ongoing reforms and efforts to improve social values in the state.
