Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former aide to Vice President Kashim Shettima, has criticized recent political movements and alliances forming ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing them as selfish and disconnected from the needs of ordinary Nigerians.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Baba-Ahmed accused political actors of prioritizing personal ambition over national interest, adding that their efforts to unite or revive old platforms are unlikely to deliver meaningful change.
“All the jumping around by these politicians is pointless. After they finish gathering in one corner or trying to patch together remnants from what they’ve destroyed, they’ll realise they’re all the same,” he stated.

He argued that the political realignments currently taking shape are being driven by individuals who share the same mindset and failed leadership styles. According to him, the alliances lack a concrete plan to reclaim the rights of citizens or build a better future for Nigeria.
Baba-Ahmed lamented the worsening conditions faced by Nigerians, particularly in the North, stressing that people are more concerned with survival than political spectacle.
“The ordinary Nigerian is tired. Right now, what he needs is not to follow a politician, but to have security and food,” he said.
Warning of a potential voter revolt in 2027, he said, “No matter your money, food, or influence, it’s not you who will vote. The poor person you’ve turned your back on will vote. And he is fed up.”
He concluded with a call for genuine reform, urging political actors to stop underestimating the rising awareness and anger among citizens.
“The side that’s losing strength has serious work ahead. Either they pursue meaningful and effective change, or the people will show them the way.
The Northern poor, whom they’ve long underestimated, may take the lead in reclaiming their freedom.”
