Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) gubernatorial candidate for Jigawa State in the 2023 general election, says party members are waiting for guidance from the party’s national leader, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, amid speculations about a possible merger ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking in an interview with Newsmen on Saturday, Ringim dismissed rumours that the NNPP was on the verge of merging with one of the major political parties, urging loyalists to remain focused and united.
“I want to tell all our party supporters that, for now, we are for the NNPP and we will continue to work for the party,” Ringim said.

“If there is any development, we will receive it from our leader Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He is our focus and he is the one we follow.”
Ringim called on NNPP stakeholders at all levels — from wards to the state structure — to stay committed and continue mobilising support for the party’s success in future elections.
His statement comes amid reports that preliminary talks are underway between the NNPP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on possible collaboration ahead of the 2027 general election.
