A former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Datti Baba-Ahmed, has said that defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections would require firmness and resolve, not reliance on court action.
Baba-Ahmed made the assertion in a video shared by an X user, @Dejii, where he criticised Nigeria’s electoral and judicial systems, alleging constitutional breaches during the 2023 presidential election.
According to him, legal battles alone cannot overturn electoral outcomes, insisting that political actors must be prepared to decisively confront perceived injustices within the system.

“I told Peter Obi, the Supreme Court cannot give you a governor and give you presidency. For God’s sake, stand up and do something. The Nigerian Constitution was clearly breached,” he said.
The Kaduna-born politician drew parallels with the June 12 struggle, noting that past political actors aggressively defended their mandates and mobilised Nigerians over extended periods to challenge injustice.
Baba-Ahmed, while expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as constitutional abuse, acknowledged that those in power were effective in organising and protecting their interests.
He maintained that any opposition seeking to unseat President Tinubu must be prepared to confront the system head-on.
“You must show your red eyes if you’re going to defeat Tinubu, because on that day that they are declaring the result, the people declaring a fake result are criminals, and those who are stopping the declaration of fake results are good citizens,” he added.
