Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, his Deputy, Muhammad Butu-Butu, the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain, and 19 other lawmakers have resigned their membership of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.
The lawmakers also declared their full support for Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Press Secretary of the Kano State House of Assembly, Kamaludden Shawai, and made available to journalists in Kano.

According to the statement, those who resigned from the NNPP include the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, the Majority Leader, the Deputy Majority Leader, Garba Fammar, and the Chief Whip, Muddasir Zawachiki.
Other lawmakers involved represent constituencies such as Ajingi, Albasu, Bagwai/Shanono, Bebeji, Bunkure, Dawakin Kudu, Fagge, Gabasawa, Garko, Gwale, Karaye, Kura/Garun Malam, Madobi, Minjibir, Rano, Tarauni and Wudil.
Shawai said a total of 22 members of the House were involved in the defection, adding that the Kano State House of Assembly had verified and authenticated the list of affected lawmakers.
He explained that the announcement was made to properly inform the public and clarify the political position of the lawmakers following Governor Yusuf’s recent resignation from the NNPP.
