
Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has called on the Cisco Networking Academy to adopt one of the campuses of the proposed ICT University which would be named after them, noting that their early indication of the role they would play, the modus operandi in the structure of governance should be detailed and, in a way help government to know how to collaborate with them.
He stated this in his Office during a meeting with Cisco Networking Academy. The Minister advised them to formally represent their proposal to the Ministry for necessary action.
Barrister Shittu however, enumerated some of the vital opportunities in the ICT Exhibition Park which Cisco System could key into; these are building of a good weather measurement device, shops, database in workplaces etc.
Toyin Olatayo speaking on behalf of Cisco Networking Academy, said their visit to the ministry was to seek for areas they could collaborate with the ministry, to make the Nigerian Youths to be technology creator, instead of being only users of it.
He went further to say that Cisco Networking Academy is an IT Skills and Career building program for learning institutions, individuals, community and organization.
Olatayo disclosed that the ways to achieve their mission is in converging digital disruptions, building Internet of Things (IoT), ecosystem and education through IoT. (FMC/FMIC)
