Zamalek of Egypt reached the group phase of the Orange CAF Champions League after thrashing visiting Nkana FC from Zambia 6-0 at Cairo’s Air Defense stadium. The second leg encounter of the second round was less of a contest than the goalless draw the two sides played last weekend in Kitwe.
Ahmed Tawfik opened the scoring after 20 minutes before well taken free kick curled in beautifully by Momen Zakrya ensured the White Knights would go to the break two goal in front.
After the break Omar Gaber added a third before Nkana had hardly settled into their stride. The Zambian heads went down and defensive blunders became the order of the night. The Zamalek intricate passing carved open Nkana again with Hazem Emam finding the roof of the net from close range. Striker Ahmed Gafer was involved in a well worked move tha ended with him side footing home the fifth to complete the rout.
Nkana were slow from the onset and struggled to live with the swift passing Egyptians. The Zambians had far and few chances on the night with chief striker Ronald Kampamba hardly getting a whiff .
