Hajiya Aishatu Yan Guru Bungudu Nahuche, a woman from Zamfara, was honoured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for her integrity after she returned $80,000 (about N60 million) that she had found while undertaking the 2023 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The president was pleased to be informed of the incident and directed the National Hajj Commission to organise a national press conference with the lady for record-keeping, as reported by Alhaji Musa Mallaha, chairman of the Zamfara State Hajj Committee, during a press briefing in his office.
The lady had already been transported back to her native state in Nigeria when the commission contacted us, having completed the Hajj ritual.

Mallaha has announced that the First Lady of Zamfara State will publicly honour the woman, and that arrangements are still being made to include the governor in the event.
Mallaha, visibly pleased with the female pilgrim’s forthrightness, emphasised that her exemplary behaviour is a source of pride for not only Zamfara and Nigeria, but for all Muslims.
“Honesty is one of the major divine teachings embodied in the Quran as the main guide for Muslims,” he explained.
