To lessen the consequences of climate change, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has directed the purchase of 500,000 tree seedlings.
This announcement was made about a month after the governor indicated that a rule prohibiting tree cutting will be reinstated in response to widespread flooding and other repercussions of deforestation.
The governor instructed the ministry to obtain the seedlings for planting in order to stop deforestation, according to Cletus Hilkiah Gwotyel, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Environment, who was speaking about the decision to plant 500,000 tree seedlings throughout the state.

The ministry has the necessary human resources to complete its mission, according to the permanent secretary, who said Friday during a meeting with the Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Development. The ministry includes four technical divisions and seven directors.
The visiting House of Assembly committee stated that it is going all out to address new climate change-related challenges in the state.
Yohanna Jauro, the committee’s chairman and a representative for the Mubi South constituency, claimed that uncontrolled tree cutting in the past has had a substantial impact on climate change.
He claimed that the problem calls for concrete countermeasures, including a state governor’s directive to plant trees.
Paul Samuel, a member of the committee from the Mubi North constituency, stated that in order to advance the state, the committee would want help from the ministry.
