Two members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have been suspended.
One of the party’s original founders, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, have been suspended from membership.
The party said Aniebonam and Major had been suspended while a disciplinary committee looked into their conduct.

Mallam Abba Kawu Alli, the party’s acting national chairman, made the announcement on Thursday.
Daily Post obtained a statement from Alli in which he said that Aniebonam and Agbo had been suspended for anti-party activities.
He continued by saying that NNPP will oppose those who would try to discredit it.
“Unfortunately, one of the founders of our party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, has arrogated to himself the authority to alone overturn decisions of the National Working Committee, after those decisions are validated and adopted by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party!
We cannot allow this to continue as a responsible National Working Committee.
“In accordance with our constitution, we have now suspended Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam and the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, pending the outcome of investigations by the national level disciplinary committee of the party.
And, he said, “under Article 391 (7), the men and their suspended comrades have been engaged in anti-party activities and conduct that may likely have an adverse effect on the party or bring hatred, contempt, disrespect, or ridicule to the party.”
