President Bola Tinubu has been given 48 hours to reverse his decision to bar 25 media outlets from Aso Rock, or face legal action from the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).
This was announced on Sunday by SERAP’s Deputy Director Kolawole Oluwadare.
After 25 journalists were denied access to cover the President’s events, SERAP took action.

Vanguard, Galaxy TV, Ben TV, MITV, ITV Abuja, PromptNews, ONTV, and Liberty stations are also allegedly part of the blacklist.
SERAP requested that Tinubu issue a public order to the Presidential Villa to lift the prohibition.
The freedom of the press was cited as a pillar of democracy in Nigeria.
For reasons of transparency and public interest, SERAP has called for the media prohibition to be repealed.
Please take the necessary steps within 48 hours of reading this letter or having it published.
If SERAP hasn’t heard back by then, “appropriate legal actions to compel your government to comply with our request in the public interest” will be considered.
