The campaign council for the governorship election in Imo, scheduled for November 11, was officially launched by All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje, who led the drill on Saturday, urged the people of Imo to re-elect Governor Hope Uzodinma so that the state could continue on its current path of progress.
He said that President Bola Tinubu’s selection of Cross River Governor and Senator Bassey Otu to head the campaign council was indicative of the importance the President places on the upcoming election.

He urged the people of Imo to use Uzodinma’s cross-ethnic goodwill and sage advice to ensure the state’s continued growth and prosperity.
He continued, “President Tinubu has promised to do everything in his power to move Imo to the next level, and Governor Uzodinma is a loving, intelligent, deft, and cooperative gentleman to the President and APC in general.”
Uzodinma expressed his gratitude to Tinubu and the APC’s national leadership for their endorsement and assistance, highlighting the many appointments made by the party in Imo.
He urged voters in Imo to support the APC because “the APC in Imo is a movement, not just a political party.”
It appears that the APC is the only party in Imo that has prepared adequately for the upcoming election in November, hence it is safe to say that the APC is a party to beat.
My people are ready for D-Day, and they have every reason to be confident. This means that what has been implied will become official.
We have begun the process of making amends. We are now welcoming everyone of our great party’s former leaders and members who have been wronged in any way.
Recently, we have seen not only a large number of former members returning to the party, but also a large number of former members defecting from other political parties.
He told reporters, “As I speak to you, for the majority of the opposition political parties in Imo state, their party structures and the majority of their leaderships have joined the APC.”
When asked why they came, Otu added, “only to reemphasize the reelection of Gov. Uzodimma by saying Yes! Yes! Yes!”
He expressed gratitude to the people of Imo for their support of the APC in the most recent national election.
Governors Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe, and Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina, together with ministers and members of the APC National Working Committee, attended the inauguration.
