Barr Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu State, has praised the judgment of the Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which rejected challenges to his victory in the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023, brought by the Peoples Redemption Party and the Labour Party.
He hailed the ruling as a triumph for Enugu State’s democracy and its citizens.
According to the the media, on Thursday the Tribunal ruled that the petitions submitted by PRP candidate Elder Chris Agu and LP candidate Barr Chijioke Edeoga were without merit and hence dismissed their cases.

Mbah, in his speech following the ruling, welcomed the opposition candidates and political parties with open arms.
He emphasized that he was dedicated to working with people of all political stripes to complete the process of building Enugu.
The Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed the mandate, which you freely gave us on March 18th of this year, Mbah remarked in an address to the people of the State at the Government House, Enugu.
Ndi Enugu have won this round. Democracy has also won this round.
“It’s a huge win for progress for the Ndi Enugu. Ndi Enugu has won the battle for rapid expansion. This is a triumph for the magnificence of Enugu. The ban on taking Mondays off has been successful.
“It’s a win for our resolve to get water back on in every one of your homes within the next 68 days,” they said.
Mbah gave thanks to God for the victory and praised the tribunal “for coming out with fair and just decision that resonates with Ndi Enugu”
He argued that the verdict proved that “the judiciary is the temple of justice and the last hope of the common man.”
Mbah greeted his detractors with open arms and declared, “There is a time for everything under the sun.” There’s still time to make progress and come together. To better the lives of Ndi Enugu, we have all offered our services.
The verdict has been upheld by both the people and the court. There is a great deal of work that has to be done, therefore if service was the driving force, then it is time to put politics aside and work together.
“Our doors are open wide, and I invite my fellow runners to come help us finish the race and create the Enugu State we’ve always imagined.
“In the same way, I urge all our backers to show grace and generosity upon our triumph. Political campaigns are finished. On May 29th, we were officially sworn in as a government and took over. It’s time to pull together.
Governor Mbah, reiterating his commitment to fulfilling his campaign pledges, said that the tribunal’s ruling was an impetus to go farther and encouraged the public to hold him to account.
Again, I want to express my deep gratitude to the citizens of Enugu State, who not only supported us but also gave us the power to make decisions on their behalf. Above and beyond everything else, they have always supported us.
I want them to know that I will devote my own being to serving their needs. As stated in our Mission Statement, I fully intend to carry out each and every one of my campaign pledges.
The Citizens Charter, which I signed on my first day in office, has my full support. The people of Enugu ought to hold me accountable. I promise I won’t disappoint them,” he said.
