The Labour Party (LP) has asked the people and the media to ignore those it has labelled “agents of destabilisation” who will “stop at nothing” to ensure the party endures unneeded fractures.
Despite this, the LP has maintained that there is no split inside the party and that Julius Abure is still the only officially recognised national chairman.
Obiora Ifoh, the party’s national publicity secretary, said as much in a statement.

Chief Basil Maduka, claiming to be the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Imo, allegedly invited LP to a press briefing.
According to Ifoh, Maduka revealed he was part of the LP’s Abure group.
Maduka, according to the spokesman, was one of two candidates that stage-managed the governorship primary in Imo state under the watchful eye of Lamidi Apapa.
Ifoh went on to say that Maduka was an Apapa agent who was responsible for bringing down the Labour Party and suing its members all the way to the Supreme Court.
The statement explained, in part, that Basil Maduka was one of two candidates who “stage-managed” the governorship primary in Imo state while working under Lamidi Apapa’s supervision.
“He is one of Apapa’s agents who helped fuel the crisis that erupted in the Labour Party.” It’s the same guy who took his complaint all the way to the Supreme Court, where he was soundly defeated.
Following their defeat before the Supreme Court, he and his accomplices are likely planning another scheme to further their evil ends. Our suspicions were piqued by his assertion that he is a member of the executive team headed by Abure, so we sounded the alert. We are not familiar with Basil Maduka. He is an accomplice of Apapa’s.
Thus, we are urging the press and the public to avoid these agents of instability, who will leave the Labour Party with needless fissures if they get their way.
Since Julius Abure is still the only official national chairman of the party, there is no internal strife.
