Because of its inactivity for many years, the Open Governance Partnership (OGP) implementation in Jigawa State required the establishment of a new state steering committee, which the Jigawa State Government recently announced it had established.
This information was presented by Babangida Umar Gantsa, the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, at a workshop held in Dutse with the purpose of improving the OGP framework in Jigawa State.
According to him, the objective is to reevaluate the action plan, ramp up the operations of OGP, and bring the activities of civil society organizations in the state into harmony.

He said that the Open Governance Partnership (OGP) is a global initiative that Nigeria has joined, as well as several other states in the Federation, one of which is Jigawa State, which has also joined.
According to him, “The governor is an architect of openness, inclusion, and transparency. And we have approached him based on his commitment and desire to see that Jigawa state excels in all aspects, so he gave his commitment to go ahead and do the needful.”
According to him, Aminu Danmalam serves as the co-chairman of the new OGP state steering committee, together with a number of other state and non-state players.
He made the point that the committee will assist the current administration in achieving its 12-point agenda and will assist the state in maintaining its leadership position in terms of monetary restraint, transparency, and accountability.
The Open Governance Partnership (OGP) is a global initiative that promotes transparency, citizen participation, and accountability in government, and Nigeria became the 70th member country in July of 2016. According to the Open Governance Partnership’s National Coordinator, Gloria K. Ahmed, who was represented by Hajia Ramatu Bello from the Federal Ministry of Budget, OGP is a global initiative that promotes transparency, citizen participation, and accountability in government.
She mentioned that out of the 36 states, only 11 have not yet joined the OGP, and that efforts are being made to ensure that they do.
