The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has expressed great worry over recent rulings by the Court of Appeal that nullified the elections of parliamentarians in Plateau State based on pre-election topics already addressed by the Supreme Court.
These judgments invalidated the elections since they were based on issues that had previously been addressed by the Supreme Court.
The Forum emphasized that even though the Supreme Court had established a precedent on pre-election concerns, candidates for the PDP in the state of Plateau were disqualified on the same basis.

This information was shared by Sen. Bala Muhammad, the Chairman of the Forum and the Governor of Bauchi State, at a press briefing with journalists that took place immediately following the meeting of the Forum at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
“We made an appeal to the highest level of the judicial branch, pleading with them to protect the legitimacy of the legal process and stop the perversion of the jurisprudence of our nation.
InfoStride News notes that the Court of Appeal in Abuja recently issued decisions in which it reversed the elections of three PDP members of the National Assembly. The reasoning behind this decision was that the PDP lawmakers in question had not been legitimately nominated by the party to which they belonged.
Muhammad underlined the Forum’s faith in the competence of the judicial system to effectively administer justice in political and other situations currently pending before the courts.
The chairman made the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision about the presidential election in 2023: “the Court’s decision regarding the presidential election marks the conclusion of the Presidential election cycle and emphasizes the need for an end to litigations.”
We hereby promise the commitment of this Forum to reposition and build the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a formidable opposition political party that is ready to fulfill its role as the advocate for the Nigerian people in the pursuit of democracy, good governance, and accountability.
During their discussion of the state of the nation’s economy, the governors who are affiliated with the PDP made an impassioned plea to the federal government, urging it to take action to prevent further depreciation of the naira, bring inflation under control, combat the nation’s unemployment crisis, and offer aid to Nigerians.
At the meeting were prominent personalities such as Governors Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State (Vice Chairman of the Forum), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai of Enugu State, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Godwin O.
