Dino Melaye, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election for governor of Kogi State, has stated that his decision to abstain from voting during the election should not be held responsible for the party’s loss.
Melaye finished a distant third in the election, and Usman Ododo, a candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), was ultimately victorious and won the position of governor.
Some people believe that the fact that the former senator did not vote during the election on Saturday may have hurt his prospects of becoming elected.

Dino counters with the argument that “people win elections from prison; whether or not I vote, it makes no difference.”
On the episode of Politics Today that aired on Channels Television on Monday, he made the following statement: “The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status.” It is possible to win elections behind bars. According to the law, this issue has no bearing on the election. It makes no difference whether I voted or not; either way, it’s irrelevant.
