In a recent development, the Executive Committee and stakeholders of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the North East zone have officially reaffirmed the expulsion of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.
This decision was solidified in a communique released at the conclusion of the North East executive and stakeholders meeting held in Bauchi on Friday.
Expressing discontent, the NNPP North East also voiced dissatisfaction with the recent judgment from the Appeal Court, which resulted in the removal of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Dr Babayo Liman, NNPP National Vice Chairman North, conveyed the party’s continued support for Governor Yusuf, emphasizing the need for unity among NNPP members nationwide.

Further decisions taken at the meeting included the affirmation of the dissolution of the Abba Kawu Ali-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the NNPP.
The North East NNPP executive committee and stakeholders went on to pass a vote of confidence on Dr Boniface Aniebonan, the founder and life member of the Board of Trustees.
The gathering also reinstated Dr. Tope Aluko as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Engr. Mohammed Babayo Abdullahi as the Secretary.
Additionally, the appointment of the new NWC under the leadership of Dr Agbo Major was reaffirmed during the proceedings.
The NNPP remains committed to its internal decisions and expresses solidarity with key party figures amid ongoing political developments.
