In a recent development, President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to mend the strained relationship between Rivers State Governor, Simi Fubara, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, have hit a deadlock.
Tony Okocha, the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker committee chairman, revealed this information on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Okocha stated, “I wasn’t part of it, but whatever that was it, has broken down, and it has been broken irreconcilably.”

President Tinubu had previously intervened in an attempt to broker peace between the two politicians.
However, the situation escalated with the demolition of the state House of Assembly Complex and the defection of 27 assembly members loyal to Wike to the APC.
Addressing the recent developments, Okocha asserted that the four members of the state House of Assembly led by court-backed Speaker Edison Ehie, who approved the budget presented by the governor, “were dwelling on illegality,” emphasizing that their actions would not be validated.
Furthermore, Okocha disclosed that the APC is actively pursuing Wike to join the party. He expressed confidence that Wike would assume a leadership role in the state once he becomes a member of the APC.
The political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve amid these intricate dynamics. Stay tuned for more updates.
