The Northern Governors Forum (NGF) has strongly denounced the recent attacks on communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local councils of Plateau State during the Christmas Eve period.
The Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, expressed the collective condemnation of the 19 northern governors on Tuesday.
He characterized the attacks as reprehensible and heinous, offering the forum’s heartfelt condolences to the affected families, communities, and the government and people of Plateau State.

Governor Yahaya stated, “It is disheartening to hear of the loss of more than 100 lives and the destruction of property that occurred during these attacks, especially when people were preparing to celebrate Christmas.
Such acts of violence are not only cowardly but also run counter to the spirit of unity and coexistence that our region upholds.”
He emphasized the need for prioritizing peace and harmonious living in communities, reaffirming the commitment to peaceful coexistence and solidarity regardless of differences.
Governor Yahaya praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for his leadership in handling the aftermath of the attacks, assuring that the Northern governors stand in solidarity with him and are committed to ensuring lasting peace in the state.
Governor Yahaya also commended the security agencies operating in the area and urged them to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property through increased vigilance and swift actions.
