The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of not voting for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential Election.
Chief Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in the state, made this allegation in a statement he released on Sunday.
Okocha claimed that despite Fubara’s recent show of support for President Tinubu’s potential candidacy in the 2027 election, Fubara did not vote for Tinubu in 2023.

Okocha’s statement read, “Siminalayi Fubara did not vote for Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential Election.
He can’t be more Catholic than the Pope now because he seeks succour from Mr. President who he and his ilk are demonizing and disrespecting. It fails.
His inordinately desperate attempts to curry political capital by surreptitiously declaring support for Mr. President for 2027, as defense and fall back, are in his style of subterfuges.”
The APC chairman also referenced the election result from the governor’s polling unit in Ward 5, unit 8, Opobo/Nkoro LGA, Rivers State, as evidence to support his claim.
Rivers State has been in a state of political turmoil since October 30, 2023, following an explosion at the State Assembly complex.
This incident led to an impeachment process against the governor and the suspension of four lawmakers, deepening the divide within the state Assembly.
Despite a peace pact signed by Fubara and Wike in December 2023, aimed at resolving the political crisis, the unrest in the state has persisted.
The root cause of the discord between the governor and the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, remains a topic of speculation.
