Everton manager, David Moyes has come out to say that he can’t understand why Ashley Young was denied a late penalty vs MUFC. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he believes Ashley Young’s jersey was undoubtedly pulled in the MUFC box, so the on-field decision was correct and it should have never gone to VAR.

Moyes added that he cannot why a referee will make a correct decision on the pitch and then decide to not stick with it.
His words, “I think it should have been more. When we were 2-0 up, we had chances to make it 3-0. We were up against a good side, I know they are not in a good place in the table. We did as well as we could do. I thought Ashley Young’s jersey is undoubtedly pulled. I thought the on-field decision was correct and I was surprised that the referee was sent to VAR. It went against us today, we won’t complain too much about it. That decision went against us.
Today’s result was a good result, we lost two points and gave away two poor goals but we played well in front of the crowd and overall I’m really pleased.
I can’t understand why the referee on the field makes a decision – if it was absolutely clear and obvious then he should go to the screen. I didn’t see that. He pulled his jersey. I just thought the referee made the correct decision at the time and he should have stuck with it. It looked to me as though the shirt pull was enough for it to be given my feeling is the pull on the jersey, you shouldn’t be getting away with pulling jerseys.”
WOW.
Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United or simply United, is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division in the English football league system.
Nicknamed the Red Devils, they were founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, but changed their name to Manchester United in 1902. After a spell playing in Clayton, Manchester, the club moved to their current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
Alex Ferguson and his assistant Archie Knox arrived from Aberdeen on the day of Atkinson’s dismissal, and guided the club to an 11th-place finish in the league. Despite a second-place finish in 1987–88, the club was back in 11th place the following season. Reportedly on the verge of being dismissed, Ferguson’s job was saved by victory over Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final.
The following season, Manchester United claimed their first UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title. That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992 the left and the right, but he’s not got any sense of danger yet, and empties the midfield area too readily.
