The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed its governorship primary election in Anambra State from Friday, April 5, to Monday, April 8, 2025.
Chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr. Chidi Chidebe, confirmed the development to journalists in Awka on Saturday.
According to him, the adjustment was approved by the party’s National Secretariat to allow for the completion of necessary administrative processes and ensure a seamless and credible exercise.

The primary election is aimed at producing the PDP’s flagbearer for the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election.
“Our primary election will now hold on Tuesday, April 8,” Chidebe stated. “With the confusion in other parties, it’s clear that the PDP is not the problem.
We are the most peaceful party in Anambra, united and ready to contest.”
He urged party members to place public and party interests above personal ambitions in order to secure victory at the polls.
The InfoStride News reports that other major political parties in the state—including the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Labour Party—are conducting their governorship primaries on Saturday.
While several aspirants have withdrawn from the race across most parties, APGA has only one aspirant, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who remains unopposed in the bid to secure the party’s ticket for re-election.
