The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to officially launch its campaign on Tuesday, June 17, ahead of the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12.
The campaign flag-off ceremony will take place at the party’s State Secretariat in Ogba, according to a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mogaji Oluseye Oladejo.
The event will feature the formal presentation of the party’s candidates and the symbolic handover of party flags, marking the commencement of statewide mobilisation activities.
Oladejo disclosed that the campaign structure has been decentralised across the three senatorial districts of Lagos—East, Central, and West—with Lagos West further subdivided for effective coordination due to its vast size.
He added that party chieftains, elected and appointed officials from federal, state, and local levels are expected to grace the flag-off ceremony.
“The flag-off ceremony will be witnessed by party chieftains, elected and appointed officials of the party across the three tiers of government,” the statement read.
To ensure grassroots mobilisation, the party said it has constituted Local Organising Committees (LOCs) in each Local Government Area to drive voter engagement and guarantee widespread outreach across the state.
The APC recently concluded its primaries, producing Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councilorship candidates for the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs), 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 377 wards in Lagos State.
The party said its campaign would highlight the accomplishments of the outgoing local councils, the implementation of impactful social welfare programmes, and its renewed commitment to sustainable development in line with its progressive ideals.
“We wish to seize this opportunity to urge all voters to perform their civic responsibility on election day to further strengthen our democracy,” the statement added.
The party further stated that the campaign activities will end a day before the election, in strict compliance with electoral guidelines.
