Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has dismissed concerns that the emerging National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG) poses any real threat to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Governor Sani insisted that the coalition—seeking registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)—stands no chance of defeating President Tinubu or the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
According to him, the newly formed alliance is not a cause for concern and does not suggest any impending trouble for the president or the APC.

“I can tell you today, and mark this day—Asiwaju has no threat,” Sani declared confidently.
“Most of the people speaking today—where were they when we were in the trenches fighting for democracy, for justice, for good governance, for the rule of law? They knew nothing about that struggle,” he added.
The NOCG is reportedly led by former Senate President David Mark and includes notable political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
El-Rufai, who recently fell out with the APC, had declared that it would be impossible for President Tinubu to secure re-election in 2027. He accused the president and the APC of failing Nigerians and offering nothing meaningful to the electorate, questioning who would vote for a party that, according to him, had inflicted untold hardship on the people.
Despite such criticisms, Governor Sani maintained that Tinubu remains firmly positioned for victory, downplaying the strength and cohesion of the opposition coalition.
