The entire leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially resigned to pave the way for the integration of the party’s structure into the emerging 2027 opposition coalition.
Announcing the development on Wednesday, outgoing ADC National Chairman, Ralph O. Nwosu, revealed that former Senate President, Senator David Mark, has been appointed as the interim National Chairman, while former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, will take over as the party’s National Secretary.
The announcement coincided with a high-level meeting of opposition coalition leaders held at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja for the official unveiling of the ADC as a key member of the alliance.

Prominent political figures present at the gathering included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola.
Other notable attendees were former APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun; former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; and Senator Dino Melaye.
Also in attendance were Solomon Dalong, former Minister of Youth and Sports; media mogul Dele Momodu; Senator Gabriel Suswam; Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP); former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; and former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.), among others.
The move signals a major realignment within Nigeria’s political landscape as opposition figures consolidate efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
