Popular podcaster Joe Budden has blasted famous rapper Cardi B for sampling Jay-Z’s song. The female lyricist is currently under fire for her new track titled “Imaginary Playerz,” which samples JAY-Z’s classic record “Imaginary Players.”
Speaking on the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Joe declared that he is not a fan of Cardi B rapping on such a legendary beat.

According to him, despite her writers doing a very good job with the lyrics she was spitting, sampling a popular song from one of the East Coast’s top rappers is always risky.
He stated that Cardi should avoid taking bold steps she clearly isn’t ready for.
“She shouldn’t do that again.
That delivery, those punch-ins, how choppy that was… ‘Imaginary Players,’ for y’all that wasn’t there, Hov, when that dropped, was a much better rapper than that,” he said.
Stressing that the original song was a monster hit because of Jay-Z’s confidence, flow and voice control, he noted that Cardi’s effort just wasn’t smooth enough.
Budden concluded by saying that she did give it a good go, but it fell flat in the end.
“Bars are there, but this is not the beat for that,” he added.
The track is part of Cardi B’s upcoming album “Am I the Drama?”which also includes her hit singles “WAP” and “Up” from 2020 and 2021.
“This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this. WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album, and people search for them on IOP all the time… they deserve a home,” Cardi wrote after some fans complained about adding old songs to a new album.
