Concerned members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State have vowed to resist any attempt to hijack the party through unconstitutional means.
Addressing journalists in Kabba on Wednesday, the group’s spokesperson, Usman Lukman, raised alarm over alleged moves by individuals “alien to the party’s operations” to topple the ADC leadership in the state.
Lukman urged security agencies to remain vigilant and prevent any breakdown of law and order, warning that the party would not tolerate attempts to destabilise its structure.

“Let it be clearly stated that the ADC is governed by its constitution, values, and democratic ethos. Those who recklessly destroyed the PDP cannot be allowed to invade our party and subject it to the same fate,” Lukman said.
He stressed that the ADC in Kogi had been painstakingly built from the grassroots, nurtured with sacrifice and discipline, and would not be surrendered to opportunists.
“Any attempt to hijack it through unconstitutional means will be firmly resisted using every legal and constitutional instrument available,” he added.
The group reaffirmed its loyalty to Chief Leke Abejide, whom it described as the “undisputed leader” of the ADC in Kogi State.
Lukman further cautioned security agencies against recognising or providing cover for meetings or activities in the name of the ADC that do not emanate from Abejide’s leadership.
“Any such gathering by faceless impostors is illegal, illegitimate, and a calculated attempt to breach the peace and security of Kogi,” he warned.
He urged genuine party members to remain calm, vigilant, and committed to the unity and progress of the ADC, pledging that the group would safeguard the party’s political structure from opportunists “who neither share its vision nor values.”
