Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ortom made the declaration over the weekend in Makurdi, the state capital, while hosting members of the PDP G-14 and other key stakeholders from the 14 Local Government Areas in Zones A and B Senatorial Districts.
The former governor dismissed speculations about his alleged plans to defect from the party, describing the reports as the handiwork of “mischief makers.”

“I’m not planning to leave the PDP. I remain loyal, and together with commitment and dedication, we shall reclaim Benue come 2027,” Ortom said.
He expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge stronger and more united as preparations for the next election intensify, urging party members to remain steadfast and focused on rebuilding the party’s structures across the state.
While reiterating that he would not be contesting any political office, Ortom pledged to give his full support to all PDP candidates at every level during the 2027 elections.
He also advised aspirants within the party to embark on broad consultations and not be discouraged by the ongoing defections to the ruling party, stressing that political realignments are normal in the buildup to elections.
