Robert De Niro’s daughter Airyn has opened up about the legendary actor’s support since she came out as transgender. Airyn recently revealed that she is grateful for the privilege of having a very supportive father.
Speaking during an interview with Them, she shared that her dad is very happy with her decision to transform into a woman, and he even met her boyfriend recently.
According to him, Robert De Niro told her how lucky she is to have a man who loves her for who she is in a world where people are dating for selfish reasons.
“The support has still been nonstop from him, and I’m so grateful.
He was talking about how happy he was for me because I have an amazing boyfriend who he’s met, and [he said], ‘You have somebody who loves you for you, and you don’t need to change yourself for anybody.’” he said.
Airyn further noted that his father realizes the fact that he has no choice but to accept his kids for who they really are.
He concluded by saying that Robert De Niro is very good at being a dad, and he will never form the habit of discriminating against anyone.
“He said, ‘There’s no other thing to do than accept your kid for who they are and where they decide to go in life,’ He’s very good at being a dad and, not just that, [but also] accepting people from all walks of life.
At his ripe old age, he’s not even setting a high bar. It’s just like, that should be the standard,” he added.
The Killers Of The Flower Moon star has seven kids total, his youngest is Gia, whom he welcomed with girlfriend Tiffany Chen in April 2023.
