The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has begun mobilizing support groups across the 27 local government areas of the state as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Director-General of the Directorate of Support Groups, Diamond Bryan Agu, who disclosed that the groups include Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, and Non-Governmental Organizations, NGOs, formed to enhance grassroots mobilization and political awareness.
Speaking during an interactive session with the State Chairman of the party and leaders of various support groups, Agu described the directorate as the “engine room” of ADC’s 2027 electoral strategy.

He emphasized that the party’s growing strength is anchored on a new political culture rooted in credibility, inclusiveness, accountability, and collective progress.
“The ADC believes in leadership earned through credibility and conviction, not manipulation or intimidation. Our support group structure has become a platform where ideas matter more than money, and where service to humanity is the highest form of politics,” Agu stated.
He further revealed that, in addition to the ten already registered support groups, fourteen new organizations have expressed interest in partnering with the Directorate of Support Groups to deepen the party’s presence at the grassroots level.
