At least two governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who were previously accused of flirting with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, were on Saturday conspicuously absent from the party’s ongoing national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The absent governors are Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.
In contrast, governors Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and the host governor, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, were present at the convention grounds.

There are also indications that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, may boycott the event due to his perceived alignment with the Nyesom Wike-led faction of the party.
InfoStride News reports that the convention commenced despite conflicting court orders seeking to halt the exercise.
While the Wike-led faction has rejected the convention and called for compliance with court directives, the Umar Damagum-led faction insisted on proceeding with the elective gathering.
The governors of Osun and Taraba, whose absence further fueled speculation, had earlier been accused of plotting to defect to the APC—allegations they have repeatedly denied.
