The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday expelled the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; its suspended National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, over alleged anti-party activities and actions deemed inimical to the unity of the party.
The announcement was made on the floor of the party’s national convention currently taking place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo State.
InfoStride News reports that the two-day convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, is being held amid internal wrangling, conflicting court orders, and the absence of key party leaders, including some governors aligned with the Wike-led faction.

Party officials said the expulsion followed recommendations from the disciplinary committee, which had reviewed petitions and allegations against the affected members. Wike, Anyanwu, and Fayose were accused of working against party candidates in recent elections and undermining the party’s leadership structure.
Their removal triggered reactions among delegates, with some accusing the leadership of escalating tensions rather than pursuing reconciliation. However, supporters of the decision insist it marks a necessary step toward repositioning the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The convention is expected to produce new national officers and set the tone for the party’s rebuilding efforts.
