Popular Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has reacted to the recent clash between social media critic VDM and comedian Mr Jollof. Recall that both men were detained by the Delta State Police Command on Monday, November 17, 2025, after getting into a physical altercation aboard a United Nigerian Airlines flight.
Reacting via his Instagram page, Basketmouth described the incident as embarrassing, stating that it was completely unnecessary.

Reflecting on his own long-standing rivalry with fellow comedian AY Makun, the comic guru stated that their own beef would never have been allowed to get to the point of exchanging punches.
According to him, he’ll never understand why people allow conflicts to escalate to such extremes, especially in such a limited space like an aeroplane.
“I watched the video of Mr Jollof and VDM fighting in a public space inside a plane, of all places. Even with limited space, these grown men still ended up in a fight.
And I asked myself, how did we get here? Me and AY have had issues for a long time, but it never reached the point of throwing punches. How embarrassing is this? Why can’t we just live in peace?” he wrote.
The back and forth between VDM and Mr Jollof started after VeryDarkMan accused the comedian’s wife of engaging in relationships with politicians and Yahoo boys to help him secure a political role in Delta State.
After the allegation circulated online, the couple immediately filed a N500 million defamation suit against the activist.
