Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed allegations by The Osun Masterminds (TOM), accusing his administration of abandoning governance ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
TOM, a coalition of civil society organisations, made the claims in its November State-of-the-State address delivered by its Executive Director, Wasiu Oyedokun‑Alli, who alleged that key state responsibilities were being sidelined for political gain.
Oyedokun-Alli claimed that governance had suffered major setbacks, alleging the governor was barely seen or heard as election preparations gathered momentum.

He also criticised the delayed recruitment of teachers, describing the hold-up as a failed promise that betrayed public trust.
The coalition further expressed concern over what it described as a leadership crisis within the Osun Amotekun Corps, stating that the security outfit’s reduced operational capacity came at a precarious time, amid rising insecurity across the country.
“It is unacceptable to sacrifice governance on the altar of political expediency,” the group said, insisting that even though 2026 is an election year, the administration must deliver on its mandate until its last day in office.
Reacting in a statement issued through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor dismissed the allegations, accusing TOM of being funded and politically motivated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rasheed further faulted the address by TOM’s executive director, accusing Oyedokun-Alli of distorting facts and allowing past personal political ambitions to colour his judgement.
According to the statement, “Governance in Osun is running seamlessly, and those obsessed with 2026 politics are the sponsors and patrons of TOM.”
He added that no amount of alleged “propaganda or disjointed narratives” would sway residents toward a return to what he described as a painful past, while urging citizens to remain vigilant against groups deploying civic platforms for personal political ends.
