Manchester United’s interim coach, Darren Fletcher, has urged his players to deal with negative comments from legendary former players. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, criticism is something MUFC players must learn to cope with because critics are used to treating Manchester United like the biggest club in the world.

Fletcher added that managers and players must learn to embrace the challenge that comes with being at MUFC.
His words, “I can only reflect on my experience as a player and it was there when I was a player. I was a young player, I had to come into the team in a season where we finished second and it’s the end of the world and I’ve experienced that. What I look back on is, and I’m very lucky, we had Sir Alex, we had Roy Keane, we had the experienced players around us who protected us and helped us and fundamentally that’s not the case anymore because there will never be another Sir Alex.
So it is difficult but it’s the same in every club but Manchester United is the biggest club in the world so that scrutiny, expectation, standard, it’s there and it’s something that you have to deal with. You have to learn to deal with, you have to get help to deal with, for some people it happens naturally, some people have to take time to get used to it but surely you try and have to deal with that constantly.
I think it’s the life of a footballer, it’s a modern day world and it’s something that the players have to learn to deal with and they will and sometimes it takes time and sometimes some people can’t and that’s just life and that’s just the way it is. So my thing is it’s there, learn to deal with it, find a way however best suits you and embrace the challenge of being at Manchester United. Be excited by it but recognise that there there is a lot of scrutiny and a lot of pressure and a lot of noise.”
WOW.
Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United or simply United, is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division in the English football league system.
Nicknamed the Red Devils, they were founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, but changed their name to Manchester United in 1902. After a spell playing in Clayton, Manchester, the club moved to their current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
Alex Ferguson and his assistant Archie Knox arrived from Aberdeen on the day of Atkinson’s dismissal, and guided the club to an 11th-place finish in the league. Despite a second-place finish in 1987–88, the club was back in 11th place the following season. Reportedly on the verge of being dismissed, Ferguson’s job was saved by victory over Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final.
The following season, Manchester United claimed their first UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title. That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992 the left and the right, but he’s not got any sense of danger yet, and empties the midfield area too readily.
