The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State on Monday endorsed Governor Agbu Kefas to continue in office, in what observers describe as a strategic move to consolidate the party’s dominance in the state.
The endorsement was announced by the State Working Committee (SWC) through its outgoing chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, as the committee prepares to hand over following the expiration of its tenure.
Party leaders described the development as historic, marking the APC’s transition from an opposition platform to the ruling party in Taraba State.

Governor Kefas’ recent defection to the APC significantly altered the political landscape in the state. Party officials credited his move with strengthening internal cohesion and stabilising the party structure during what could have been a turbulent transition period.
According to the committee, the governor’s integration into the party was handled with “maturity and statesmanship,” ensuring a smooth realignment process without internal crises.
The APC leadership also highlighted the successful conduct of congresses across all 168 wards and 16 local government areas of the state, noting that the exercises were largely peaceful and inclusive, with consultations involving key stakeholders.
The committee further disclosed that Taraba ranked among the top-performing states in the party’s electronic membership registration and revalidation exercise. The process, it said, received financial support from Governor Kefas and has led to increased membership across council wards.
In a formal resolution, the SWC unanimously endorsed the governor for another term, citing his leadership style and commitment to development.
“With these milestones, Taraba State is now fully integrated and firmly established as an APC state,” the committee stated.
The party added that the endorsement would enable the governor to consolidate ongoing projects and initiate new programmes aimed at boosting economic and social development.
The state APC leadership also urged residents to align with the broader national agenda by supporting President Bola Tinubu alongside Governor Kefas.
