The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
In the list published by the electoral body, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) were absent.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by INEC Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Musa Olurode.

According to the statement, candidates from 14 political parties were cleared to participate in the governorship election.
The parties include Accord, Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), Boot Party (BP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Olurode explained that the publication of the final list was in line with the timetable and schedule of activities earlier released by the commission ahead of the poll.
He recalled that last month the commission disclosed that only 14 political parties successfully conducted their primaries and uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates, including running mates, within the stipulated deadline.
