The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Abuja that President Bola Tinubu will ensure the completion of ongoing road projects, particularly in satellite towns, to improve living conditions.
Wike gave the assurance on Wednesday while addressing residents of communities along the Bwari–Kubwa road who turned out to welcome him during an inspection tour of projects.

He urged residents to continue supporting the President and to pray for the success of his administration, noting that Tinubu’s priority is the welfare and happiness of Nigerians.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting projects across satellite towns in Abuja, Wike expressed confidence that the scale of development under the current administration would make it difficult for any opposition to defeat Tinubu in the FCT in the 2027 elections.
“It is very difficult for anybody to win an election in the FCT against Mr President because of what the people have seen,” he said.
The minister attributed the growing support to deliberate efforts by the administration to extend infrastructure development beyond the city centre to rural and satellite communities.
“We were told clearly that there is over-concentration of development in the city, and we must go to the satellite towns. These communities are part of Abuja, and their lives must also change,” he stated.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing projects, noting that residents’ reactions reflect the positive impact of government interventions.
He listed key road projects inspected in areas such as Karu, Apo–Kashi and Bwari–Kubwa, including major corridors spanning up to 30 kilometres, adding that many of the benefiting communities were experiencing such infrastructure for the first time.
According to him, improved road networks would boost economic activities, reduce travel time and ease movement between satellite towns and the city centre.
“People can now live in places like Kuje and get to work in the city within 25 minutes. That is the kind of impact we are talking about,” Wike said.
He further disclosed that some of the projects would be completed and inaugurated as part of activities marking the President’s upcoming anniversary in office.
On concerns over the activities of real estate developers in the FCT, the minister dismissed calls for the creation of a new regulatory agency, insisting that existing institutions are adequate.
“The problem in Nigeria is the proliferation of agencies. Creating more agencies will not solve the problem,” he said.
Wike noted that the Department of Development Control already has the mandate to regulate physical planning and enforce compliance with the Abuja Master Plan.
“What is important is to strengthen existing structures. The FCT Administration can handle complaints and ensure that developers do not exploit citizens,” he added.
He assured residents that the administration would act on reported cases of malpractice and ensure appropriate remedies, including refunds where necessary.
Wike also called for unity and sustained support for the government, stressing that national development requires collective effort, particularly in addressing security challenges.
He expressed optimism that ongoing interventions would further enhance economic growth and improve living standards across the FCT, while extending Ramadan greetings to Muslim faithful.
