A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daboikiabo Warmate, has reiterated that the party will not support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Warmate made this known on Friday during an interview on Trust TV, monitored by DAILY POST.
Speaking on the party’s position, he dismissed suggestions that the PDP could endorse Tinubu, describing such a stance as a personal opinion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and not that of the party.

“That position to support President Tinubu is just a personal position of the FCT Minister. It’s not the position of the party,” he said.
Warmate emphasised that the PDP remains committed to presenting its own presidential candidate.
“The PDP position is that we will produce a presidential candidate. So we are not considering endorsing the sitting president in the APC,” he stated.
He added that the party intends to field a credible candidate from the southern region, in line with its zoning arrangement and ongoing internal considerations.
“As a party, we will produce our candidate. Wike has his position and is entitled to his opinion, but what PDP stands for is to produce a credible candidate from the South, taking into account what led to the current crisis,” Warmate added.
