Six members of the Ogun State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers, led by the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, include Dickson Awolaja (Remo-North), Lawal Samsudeen (Ogun Waterside), Waliu Owode (Ijebu-East), Oluseun Adesanya (Ijebu-North East) and Damilare Bello (Sagamu I).
Their defection letters were read during Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker, Oludaisi Elemide, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

In the jointly signed letter, the lawmakers attributed their resignation from the PDP to internal crises within the party, which they said had increasingly hindered effective political engagement.
They also stated that their decision to join the APC was driven by the need to align with what they described as a more progressive platform capable of delivering meaningful democratic dividends to their constituents.
“We remain resolute in our commitment to our legislative duties as well as improved welfare and overall development of our constituents,” the letter read.
The lawmakers further appreciated the leadership and members of the House for their support and cooperation, urging that their notification be accorded due recognition in line with legislative procedures.
