Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning against alleged attempts to entrench prolonged rule and weaken democratic opposition.
Melaye made the remarks in a video shared on his Facebook page, where he claimed that any move to replicate long-term leadership models in Nigeria would fail.
“Tinubu’s ambition to be the Paul Biya and Musa Kankan of Nigeria will not work,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to resist what he described as efforts to establish a one-party state, stressing that such a system is incompatible with democratic principles.
“We will resist one-party state. Kabiyesi mentality will not work. Arise Nigerians,” he added.
The former lawmaker also expressed concern over the current state of the nation, describing the situation as unprecedented.
“We are in perilous times in the country. We have never seen this kind of situation like this in this country. Unfortunately, we have a president who doesn’t care,” Melaye said.
