Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has questioned the mystical aura surrounding Real Madrid’s Champions League comeback history. He recently hit back at the club’s perceived arrogance in Europe, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the narrative of Madrid being the sole masters of UCL turnarounds is a fabrication that ignores the achievements of other elite clubs.

Kompany added that the stories about the Spanish team’s historical dominance in the competition are far from unique to the La Liga giants.
His words, “I believe they are in a phase of development, and they are still among the best in Europe. I don’t see ‘remontada stories’ as unique. They are stories of other clubs, such as Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Every club can tell these stories when they achieve an exceptional feat. I believe in Real Madrid when they think they can make a comeback, but I want to win. Nothing will affect me before the match.
We could have scored more goals in the first leg, not just Real Madrid. It’s true they improved in the second half, and those 45 minutes might give them confidence. But in the first half, we had a very good feeling, and I think we can still do even better. Winning at the Bernabéu gives you that confidence, but now you have to prove it at the Allianz Arena. And with their quality, their speed… they can be very dangerous. But I think we need to focus on ourselves, on how we can find solutions.”
WOW.
Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, commonly referred to as Real Madrid, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid. The club competes in La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football.
Real Madrid has maintained the white shirt for its home kit throughout the history of the club. There was, however, one season that the shirt and shorts were not both white. It was an initiative undertaken by Juan Padrós in honor of an English team Corinthian F.C., which he had met on one of his trips, one of the most famous teams at the time known for its elegance and sportsmanship.
It was under Florentino Pérez’s first presidency (2000–2006) that Real Madrid started its ambition of becoming the world’s richest professional football club. The club ceded part of its training grounds to the city of Madrid in 2001, and sold the rest to four corporations: Repsol YPF, Mutua Automovilística de Madrid, Sacyr Vallehermoso and OHL.
Hala Madrid is a magazine published quarterly for the Real Madrid club members and the Madridistas Fan Club card holders. The phrase Hala Madrid, meaning “Forward Madrid” or “Go Madrid”, is also the title of the club’s official anthem, which is often sung by the Madridistas (the club’s fans).
