A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, forced him out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Amaechi said the former First Family took control of the party’s structure in Rivers State and handed it over to others, leading to his exit from the PDP.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, the former Rivers State governor said he was sidelined for opposing certain policies of the Jonathan administration.

“I was literally chased out of the PDP by former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife,” he said.
“They took over the political structure in Rivers State and chased me out.”
Amaechi added that he has consistently refused to remain silent in the face of what he described as injustice, noting that such stance often attracts political opposition.
“I will never keep quiet in the face of injustice. When I do that, they start planning to make me irrelevant,” he stated.
He further explained that his disagreement with Jonathan stemmed from policy differences, adding that he had held several meetings with the former president to address the issues.
According to him, his position as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum at the time also contributed to the rift.
Amaechi also disclosed that he expressed disagreement with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shortly after the latter emerged as a presidential candidate, maintaining that he remains committed to speaking his mind on national issues.
