Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has opened up on the legendary figures who have shaped his career at Old Trafford. He recently highlighted the extraordinary professionalism of Cristiano Ronaldo and the winning mentality of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
According to him, he considers Ronaldo as the standout figure among his former teammates, especially during the Portuguese forward’s second spell at MUFC.

Shaw added that he was also amazed by Ibrahimovic’s physique and intense approach during matches and in training.
Her words, “I feel like I’ve been really lucky with the players I’ve played with. I could go through so many, but I think the top one is, and it has to be, Cristiano. I feel like you can see so easily why he’s been at the top for so long. His dedication, how professional he is.
He’s been one of the best players in the world for countless years now, but just seeing the way he lives, the way he prepares, you know, his dedication of what he does before training, after training. It was honestly a real joy to be able to see that.
I don’t think I’ve come across one like that before. His winning mentality was something I don’t think I’ve seen. A lot of top players have winning mentalities, but his was so, so big. Even in little training games, he always wanted to win. I mean, if you didn’t win and you were on his team, then you would know about it.
He was proper, proper aggressive. And he was like that, but I think you need people like that in your team. You need someone like that. He was really, like I say, dedicated as well. I think he was also at the top of his game. But yeah, he was a proper good character, and everyone loved him. I don’t think there was one person that didn’t get on with him.”
WOW.
Manchester United Football Club, commonly referred to as Man United or simply United, is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The club competes in the Premier League, the top division in the English football league system.
Nicknamed the Red Devils, they were founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, but changed their name to Manchester United in 1902. After a spell playing in Clayton, Manchester, the club moved to their current stadium, Old Trafford, in 1910.
Alex Ferguson and his assistant Archie Knox arrived from Aberdeen on the day of Atkinson’s dismissal, and guided the club to an 11th-place finish in the league. Despite a second-place finish in 1987–88, the club was back in 11th place the following season. Reportedly on the verge of being dismissed, Ferguson’s job was saved by victory over Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final.
The following season, Manchester United claimed their first UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title. That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992 the left and the right, but he’s not got any sense of danger yet, and empties the midfield area too readily.
