The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has zoned its governorship ticket for the 2027 general election to the Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
The decision was contained in a communiqué issued after the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held in Abakaliki to deliberate on preparations for the party’s forthcoming primaries.

The communiqué was jointly signed by the state chairman, Onyemaechi Nwele, and the state secretary, Zaccheaus Ogbuefi.
According to the party, the zoning arrangement was adopted to ensure equity, justice, and fairness among the various zones in the state.
“The State Executive Committee, SEC, has officially approved the zoning of the governorship ticket of our great party, PDP, in Ebonyi State to Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone,” the communiqué stated.
The SEC also directed zonal leaders to ensure equitable zoning of State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and senatorial seats in their respective areas in line with the principles of fairness and inclusiveness.
“The SEC assured all our members in Ebonyi State of fairness, equity and justice in the forthcoming party primaries,” the communiqué added.
The party further urged all aspirants to strictly adhere to the zoning arrangement and avoid actions or comments capable of causing disunity at the grassroots.
According to the communiqué, the SEC approved the sale of interest and nomination forms to aspirants in the state and assured members of a seamless exercise in line with the timetable released by the party’s Interim National Working Committee.
The PDP also pledged to provide a level playing field for all aspirants and ensure strict compliance with the zoning formula, the party’s constitution, and the Electoral Act 2026.
“The State Executive Committee reiterated its commitment to fairness, equity and justice in ensuring the PDP emerges victorious in the 2027 general election in the state,” the communiqué stated.
The Ebonyi PDP also passed a vote of confidence on the party’s Interim National Working Committee led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, the Board of Trustees headed by Adolphus Wabara, and the PDP Governors’ Forum under the leadership of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
