Chelsea centre-forward Joao Pedro has opened up about his transition into a traditional striker role. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
Revealing that he studies Harry Kane to elevate his performances, the Brazilian attacker played down premature comparisons to club legend Didier Drogba, insisting he wants to forge his own path.

Pedro added that Kane and Lewandowski are his role models because they constantly inspire him.
His words, “Since I arrived at Chelsea, I made it very clear because at Watford I played as a No.10, as a No.9. At Brighton too. But since coming here, it’s something I pushed for a lot – I wanted to play only as a No.9.
Today, I really like Kane and Lewandowski. I followed Kane more because of the Premier League and I take a lot of inspiration from him.
I’m a participative No.9. I can build play and score a lot of goals too. When I played against Kane, I paid a lot of attention to him. We swapped shirts too. He’s a player I admire and I hope to reach his level.
Drogba is an idol at Chelsea. Some fans joke: ‘Maybe we found the new Drogba?’ But I try to go my own way, slowly, without thinking too much about that.”
WOW.
Chelsea Football Club is an English professional football club based in Fulham, West London. Founded in 1905, they play their home games at Stamford Bridge.
The club competes in the Premier League, the top division of English football. They won their first major honour, the League championship, in 1955. The club won the FA Cup for the first time in 1970, their first European honour, the Cup Winners’ Cup, in 1971, and became the third English club to win the Club World Cup in 2022.
On 7 May 2022, Chelsea confirmed that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss, to acquire the club. The group was later known as BlueCo.
The UK government approved the £4.25bn takeover, ending Abramovich’s 19-year ownership of the club. Bruce Buck, who served as chairman since 2003, was replaced by Boehly, while long-serving club director and de facto sporting director Marina Granovskaia left, as did Petr Čech from the role of technical and performance advisor.
